Not a law firm; not legal advice
RemedyReady is a website that helps people who are representing themselves in a financial remedy case in England and Wales to prepare their own court documents. It is run by Split Right Ltd, a limited company. Split Right Ltd is not a law firm, is not a solicitors' practice or a barristers' chambers, does not employ solicitors or barristers to advise you and does not give legal advice.
Nothing on this website, in the case file, in the documents it produces, in the guidance pages, in the Definitions or in our emails is legal advice about the facts of your case. The tools work from the figures and answers you enter and apply the same templates to everyone; they do not know your circumstances and cannot tell you what to ask for, what to accept, what evidence to rely on or what a judge is likely to decide. Using RemedyReady does not make you a client of Split Right Ltd or of anyone connected with it and creates no solicitor-client, barrister-client or other professional relationship.
Every case is different. Wherever you can, get advice from a qualified lawyer, a solicitor, a barrister instructed directly, or a chartered legal executive, before you sign, file or serve a document and before a hearing. If cost is the barrier, free help exists and we would much rather you used it than went into court unsupported: see Free help below.
What RemedyReady does
- Fills in official court forms (Forms A, A1, E, E1, E2, ES1, ES2, FM5, H, H1, P, P1, P2, D81 and D11) from the figures you enter, on your own device.
- Drafts documents in the structure the court expects (position statements, witness statements, questionnaires and replies, chronologies, offer letters, draft orders, heads of agreement, letters of instruction and separation agreements) using fixed templates and your own words, for you to check, edit and complete.
- Explains the process in general terms: what each hearing is for, what must be filed and when and what the words mean.
- Provides free tools such as a deadline calculator and a document checklist.
What RemedyReady does not do
- It does not advise you on the merits of your case, the orders you should seek, the offers you should make or accept, or your prospects.
- It does not review, check or approve the documents you create. No lawyer reads them unless you take one to a lawyer yourself.
- It does not act for you. It does not issue, file or serve documents, correspond with the court or the other party, instruct experts, or attend hearings. You do all of those things yourself, in your own name.
- It does not guarantee that a court will accept, approve or act on any document. Whether a form is complete, an order is approved or a bundle is accepted is for the court and the court's own directions in your case take priority over anything on this site.
Reserved legal activities and regulation
The Legal Services Act 2007 reserves certain activities to authorised lawyers: the conduct of litigation, rights of audience, reserved instrument activities, probate activities, notarial activities and the administration of oaths. Split Right Ltd does not carry on any of them. Preparing your own documents with a tool and filing and serving them yourself, is you conducting your own case, which every person is entitled to do.
Split Right Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board, CILEx Regulation or any other legal regulator, is not a member of the Legal Ombudsman scheme and does not hold itself out as a provider of legal services. You will not have the protections that come with instructing a regulated lawyer, such as professional indemnity cover for advice, the regulator's complaints scheme or a compensation fund.
The founders
RemedyReady was designed by a practising family barrister and the site says so because it explains the standard the documents are built to. It does not mean that a barrister advises you through this site. Maria Scotland, the founder who designed it, practises from chambers, is regulated by the Bar Standards Board in that practice and does not give advice, accept instructions or act for anyone through RemedyReady. Because of the conflict of interest, she will not accept instructions in a case that comes to chambers through this website. Melanie Scotland, the co-founder, is not a lawyer.
Accuracy of the guidance and tools
The procedure pages, Definitions, calculators and checklists describe the law and practice of England and Wales in general terms. They were checked against the official sources (the Family Procedure Rules 2010 and practice directions, the Financial Remedies Guide 2026, the Standard Family Orders and GOV.UK) on the dates shown and we work to keep them current. Rules, forms, fees, page limits and time limits change and, despite our care, the content may contain errors or become out of date. Check anything you intend to rely on against the official source, for example legislation.gov.uk, the Family Procedure Rules or GOV.UK and against the order the court has made in your case.
The documents are built from what you enter. A wrong figure, a missed asset or an answer that is not true will produce a wrong document. Several court documents are verified by a statement of truth, so you must check every page before you sign it.
Your part in this
- You remain responsible for your case: for the facts and figures you enter, for checking every document, for the rules that apply, for every deadline and for filing and serving on time.
- You must keep the other party's disclosure confidential and use it only for the proceedings.
- If anything on this site conflicts with a direction the court has given you, follow the court.
Free help
If you cannot afford a lawyer: Advocate (free help from barristers), Citizens Advice, Support Through Court, Advicenow, LawWorks clinics, your local Law Centre and, for women, Rights of Women. Check whether you qualify for legal aid. To find a regulated lawyer, use the Law Society's Find a Solicitor or the Bar Council's Direct Access Portal. Our Suggested lawyers page lists these and some lawyers we know.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Split Right Ltd does not accept liability for loss arising from reliance on the general information on this site, from documents you have not checked, or from decisions you take in your case. Our responsibility for the documents you buy is set out in the Terms of use and sale, which also preserve your rights as a consumer. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
